La Tomatina is the world’s largest food fight held in Valencian city of Buñol in Spain. The duration of the fighting event is about one hour. People threw tomatoes at each other with great force. The event was introduced among local people in 1945 and now it’s being a traditional event in Spain. This year the event is celebrated as the 75th anniversary. The festival is an international tourism attraction in Spain.
The event was tried to be banned two times in 1950 then in 1957, participants were arrested at that time. But later on it was not stopped, finally got permission and declared as an official festival.
The event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. The event took place again and was held on Wednesday August 31, 2022.
